Director Bomar Meets With Junior Ranger

Director Bomar Meets With Junior Ranger

Director Mary Bomar recently met with Barrett Young, 11, who has completed more than 140 Junior Ranger programs. The Director and Barrett shared stories about park visits while looking through a scrapbook of Barrett’s NPS travels.

The Director presented Barrett with a commemorative pin and a coffee table book on national parks. She also introduced his family to Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne.

Barrett and his parents plan their vacations around visits to NPS sites and have high praise for the Junior Ranger program. They feel the program helps parents, as well as kids, learn more about each park.

Barrett especially enjoys visiting parks with living history programs.  He recently moved to Kansas and plans to volunteer for special events at Fort Scott NHS.
